Hi! I'm Neej π
South Asian director, writer and animator based in London. Third Culture Kid — Indonesia, Dubai, India, now here. I believe the ever-shifting backdrop of my youth is what makes me the storyteller I am.
β
I refuse to fall for the scam: 'specialise or be forgotten'. I've directed aπ₯spicy rom-com for CHANEL, written stop-motion comedy for Shaun the Sheep, built an AI animation pipeline for a documentary about transnational marriage abandonment, and sat in a Bollywood feature writers' room — all in the last five years.
β
My films are always about people I'm not. Perspective can't be bought — it has to be felt.
β
Right now I'm most excited about what happens when a human hand and a generative model work together π€. My current film The Labyrinth — AI-assisted animated documentary, BFI Doc Society, starring Varada Sethu (Andor, Doctor Who). Built inside Google's creative ecosystem: Gemini Omni, Nano Banana, Google Flow.
...Let AI handle the repetition. Humans handle the emotion!
β
Also in production: Tuk Tuk! πΊ — a solarpunk eco-fable about a young inventor and her ailing grandfather racing to build a flying e-tuk-tuk to combat the climate crisis. Produced by Climate Spring × BBC Writers × BFI Network, starring Sanjeev Bhaskar (Yesterday, The Kumars) and Charithra Chandran (Bridgerton, One Piece).
